Uplands school of motoring is a well established driving school operating in the Swansea and Neath area since 1984. We have male and female experienced driving instructors, with modern dual controlled cars which are kept clean inside and out.

We only use driving instructors who have been trained by our own in house training team. All of our driving instructor trainers are Driving Standards Agency Approved Grade 6 instructors (see Grading system explained).

Our driving school pupil base is drawn mainly from recommendations from current and past pupils, we have a philosophy of 'pupils first'.

Learning to drive is a very enjoyable experience if you have the right instructor. An instructor who is experienced will know how to teach you all of the aspects of learning to drive and in due course you will become a safe, confident and competent driver. If you already

We are a small locally based driving school and unlike some of the larger or national driving schools such as BSM. The AA driving school, Red, New driver, A2Z, Select and Elite, we have a ongoing training programmes for our instructors. ALL of our driving instructors are either Grade 5 or Grade 6. Joining the institute of advance motorists in 1985 with a further education teachers certificate.

Grading system explained.

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) assess all driving instructors on either a 2 or 4 year cycle, at the of the assessment the instructor is given his/her grade.

Grade 1 - Overall standard of instruction extremely poor or dangerous with incorrect or even dangerous instruction.

Grade 2 - A poor overall performance with numerous deficiencies in instructional technique.

Grade 3 - An inadequate overall performance with some deficiencies in instructional technique.

Grade 4 - A competent overall performance with some minor deficiencies in instruction technique.

Grade 5 - A good overall standard of instruction with some minor weakness in instructional technique.

Grade 6 - Overall performance to a very high standard with no significant instructional weakness.
