The School

The trade name ‘UPLANDS SCHOOL OF MOTORING’ was started in 1984 by the current owner Steve Edwards. He started the business after finishing a successful career working on the oil rigs in the North Sea, North Africa and the Middle East as a diver/welder/decompression chamber operator.

Our Objectives
The objective of this driving school is, and always has been, to teach people to drive, not to teach them to pass a driving test. When the pupil can drive they will pass their driving test knowing they are a safe driver and confident in their own ability. We provide our pupils with ‘Quality tuition at affordable prices’.

'Uplands School of Motoring' is a thriving and busy company with the
highest first time pass rates. Our pass rate is second to none.
The reason we have such a high first time pass rate is because we pay
attention to detail. We are continually looking to improve our teaching skills and
all of our instructors are regularly checked by our own in-house training team of Grade 6 driving instructors.

Our Instructors
All of our instructors are trained by 'Uplands School of Motoring' training team to make sure that standards are maintained at the highest possible level.

Steve was one of the first instructors in the United Kingdom to qualify as a trainer of driving instructors. He is a grade 6 driving instructor (the highest grade) and has been a grade 6 driving instructor since 1987 with a Further Education Teachers Certificate and he joined the Institute of Advanced Motorists in 1985.

How tests have changed
You will no doubt have heard from family and friends that the driving test has changed considerably in the last few years! We constantly keep up-to-date with these changes, this is another reason for our high first time pass rate and our own continuous in-house instructor training programme. We don’t use instructors from any other training establishment. All of our instructors are trained in-house in order to maintain the highest standards.

We have a very strong base of 7 dedicated and motivated driving instructors who, we are glad to say enjoy teaching people to drive (1 female and 6 male).

We strive to keep our 7 driving instructors at the highest skill level. We regard quality instruction of prime importance, not the number of instructors.

We have a variety of vehicles to choose from: all of our driving tuition vehicles are modern, dual controlled, clean and kept in good mechanical order.

Reputation
Our reputation is for being one of the best, if not the very best driving school in Wales. We intend to keep and build on this reputation in order to ensurea full and professional service to our pupils.
