Frequently asked questions.

Q. Will I be able to drive on public roads before my 17th birthday if I have already received my provisional licence from the D.V.L.A.?
A. You can apply for a provisional licence 3 months before your 17th birthday but it is not valid until that date.

Q. Will I have to drive away from my house on my first driving lesson?
A. No our instructors will always drive the pupil to a quiet location before allowing the pupil to drive the car on the first lesson however much experience the pupil has previously had.

Q. Will I drive the car on my first lesson?
A. If you have never driven before your instructor will give you what is known as a ‘controls lesson’. This mean your instructor will explain the controls of the car to you and make sure that you understand the instructions that we use. Yes! You will then drive the car.

Q. Will I have had to pass my ‘Theory Test’ before beginning my driving lessons?
A. No! You can start to learn to drive before passing your theory test, but we advise all of our pupil to start to learn the theory as soon as possible as this will aid the learning to drive process and will also help to reduce the number of lessons the pupil will need.

Q. Can I pay for a block of lessons after I have had a few lessons, or will I have to pay for a block of lessons at the beginning of my course?
A. Your first lesson is free whatever happens. You can pay for a block of lessons at ANY time during your driving course, or if you choose you can pay for your lessons one at a time.

Q. What happens if I pay for a block of lessons but my situation changes and I have to stop learning to drive. Will I get a refund of my un-used lessons?
A. In the event that you request a lesson refund for whatever reason, we guarantee you will get a full refund of all unused lessons in you credit. For example if you take six lessons out of a block of ten and then request a refund of the remaining lessons we
will refund you refund you four lessons but will charge you the full rate for the six lesson already taken. We do not charge an administration fee.

Q. Will I be able to keep the same instructor all the way through my driving course?
A. Yes! Unless you request a new instructor.

Q. Will my instructor be suitably qualified to teach me to drive?
A. YES! All of our instructors are trained by our own in house training team and are all registered and have licences issued by the Driving Standards Agency.

Q. When I take my driving test will my instructor be in the car with me?
A. Yes! If you want your driving instructor to accompany you on your driving test he/she can do so subject to you telling the examiner at the begining of the test.
Driving examiners are regularly checked by senior examiners to ensure that a consistent standard is being maintained.
sometimes there is more than one driving examiner in the car with you- there is nothing to worry about as the senior examiner is not involved in the test he/she is just checking your examiner. Top tip If this happens just rember to use more gas when 'setting the gas' as there is more weight to the car (examiner/your instructor) you will need more gas in order to aid the engine to pull the extra weight.

Q. When will the examiner tell me the result of my driving test?
A. As soon as the examiner tells you to 'turn off the engine' at the of the test.

Q. How soon after passing my test am I eligible to drive on my own?
A. You are eligible to drive on your own from the moment the examiner congratulates you for passing your test. However, we recommend that you do not drive for a couple of hours after passing your test in order to get over the excitment of passing and to allow your adrenaline levels to return to normal.

Q. When will I be able to take the Pass Plus course of lessons?
A. You are eligible to take the Pass Plus course as soon as you want to. We recommend that you enrol straight away as you may want to drive on the motorway soon after passing.
